SuperTrip - 2016

Patriots Point

June 4th-5th

40 Patriots Point Rd
Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 [MAP]

Pack your gear! For more than 25 years, the Youth Overnight Camping Program on board the USS YORKTOWN is one of the nation's top education adventures...and is Pack 97's SuperTrip for 2016!

Youngsters arrive and experience the majesty of the USS YORKTOWN, sleep in the berthing areas where the sailors once slept, learn about naval and aviation history.

Each camping package includes self-guided tours, meals and entertainment, and an on-site educational program. Please note that the YORKTOWN and other areas of Patriots Point often serve as an events rental location. Therefore, portions of the ship may be inaccessible during private events.

Pack 97 will board the Yorktown at 5:30 PM on June 4 and debark the next morning at 9:30 AM.  Breakfast on Sunday and a packed “to-go” lunch will be provided.  Please eat Dinner prior to boarding.  We will meet in the parking lot as a group at 5:00 PM.

Please note that all participants must be 6 years or older. Because the berthing (sleeping) areas are assigned male and female, any female siblings attending should be accompanied by a female adult.

Registration is now open on the website, cost per person is $45.  We will need a final count by 4/19.  [REGISTER HERE]

Pack 97 Intro to Backpacking
The intro to backpacking program will run year around in coordination with the hiking program. The backpacking program will serve to prepare older Cub Scouts for high adventure programs traditionally found in Boy Scouts. It will allow experienced hikers to become familiar with backpacking and offers educational components focused on backpacking safety, equipment, trail and food preparation and leave no trace principles.
  • The program is restricted to Bear and Webelos scouts who have earned their 20 miler hiking award.
  • The backpacking program follows the same schedule as Pack 97's Pack 97's 2014-2015 Hiking Schedule. Check the pack website in early spring for announcements on the backpack campout.
  • The program flyer has details on the program including a list of tiers and awards.
